The Railway and Communications Museum
Time travel accompanied by the whistle of a steam locomotive
Located in the majestic Haapsalu railway station, the Railway Museum presents the nearly one-and-a-half-century-long history of Estonian railways, as well as the means of communication from the era of telephone operators to the “flying word” and “remote vision”.
The railway station, with its mysterious and majestic building and gorgeous platform, was built at the beginning of the 20th century to serve the Haapsalu resort and offers an exciting journey through time accompanied by the whistle of a steam locomotive. Besides trains that have earned their retirement, you can meet a station master, see interesting old telephones, and step into the station’s post office.
During the summer season, Peetrike, a trackless amusement train starting from the station, takes you on an adventure through the beautiful and romantic streets of Haapsalu.
