The Oskar Luts House Museum
Come and have a glimpse into the “kitchen of literature”!
The Oskar Luts House Museum, located on Riia Street in Tartu, is the last home of Oskar Luts, the favorite writer of many generations, the beloved author of Kevade (The Spring), and a legendary citizen of Tartu.
The permanent exhibition entitled Oskar Luts: On the Fine Line between Life and Imagination gives an overview of Luts’s work and his importance in the history of Estonian culture – which you can experience by walking around the writer’s working and living spaces.
In the functionalist-style building, the writer’s studio and guest room have been preserved in an authentic way. The furnishing, from the end of the 19th century, creates a feeling of the era. It is a cozy place for conversations, to listen to the writer’s voice, or to quietly delve into a book.
