Haapsalu Town Hall

The story of the birth of a beloved resort town

Located in the heart of Haapsalu’s old town and built in 1775, visitors can learn about life in Haapsalu from the end of the 19th century until 1940 through the eyes of the town’s summer residents in Haapsalu town hall. With the help of photos and objects, a visitor can look back to when Haapsalu became a beloved resort town and a favorite place for many famous and less famous summer vacationers thanks to its medicinal mud.

The Läänemaa Museum was created in 1929 as a private initiative to collect and present the cultural heritage of Läänemaa. The museum began operating in Haapsalu town hall in 1950. In addition to the permanent exhibition, visitors can explore a number of themed displays.
