Tallinn People’s Museum
Reflections on the identities
The Tallinn People’s Museum mediates and values local historical heritage and the national diversity of different cultures.
The museum interprets national identities through dialogue, discussion, and self-expression. What’s unique is that there is no permanent exhibition. Instead, exhibitions and activities are co-created with representatives of national minorities, interest-based communities, and their members, fostering a sense of ownership and belonging.
The museum is situated in a medieval building in Tallinn’s Old Town at Pikk 29A, the first location of artist Ants Laikmaa’s studio school.
The Tallinn People’s Museum is a branch of the Tallinn City Museum and is paired with the House of Peter the Great as a singular museum unit.
