The Wittenstein Activity Center
A journey to a small town of the 19th century
The Wittenstein Activity Center in Paide takes visitors on a journey to a small town of the 19th century. The museum introduces the town life of that era through engaging activities and workshops. Various items from the 19th century have their story to tell.
You can familiarize yourself with a 19th-century pharmacy, look at Estonia’s first photo and take a picture of yourself, dissect a corpse at the office of local doctor Hesse, and visit the beer and food hall of the museum.
The activity center also includes an herb shop and several craft workshops: a blacksmith, a carpenter, and a textile craftsman teach visitors the skills typical of the era. Likewise, period sweets are made in the chamber of sweets.
