Discover the Legacy of the Cistercians in Estonia
The permanent exhibition “With Heart and Understanding” at Padise Monastery focuses on the monastery itself and offers insight into the Cistercians’ everyday lives. Visitors are invited to explore the impressive monastic church, the crypt, and the cloister courtyard, which has numerous passages and beautiful views.
Padise Monastery is proud of its masterfully crafted limestone. While Cistercian monasteries are typically known for their austerity and minimalistic interiors, Padise stands out with its sculpted stone details and decorations. In the monastery cellar, visitors can view an exhibition of stonework fragments discovered and preserved during archaeological excavations and restoration works at various times at Padise Monastery.
