How does the Museum Card work?
- Digital and Personal
The Museum Card is digital and comes with a QR code. We will send the QR code to your email address.
The Museum Card is linked to the cardholder’s personal ID code, which means no one else can use your card.
Museums have the right to ask for identification and report suspected fraud.
- Your ID is enough
If you can’t find your Museum Card on your phone, simply show your ID at the museum ticket desk.
You can also print out your Museum Card QR code.
- Valid for One Year
The Museum Card is valid for one year. The 12-month validity period begins with your first museum visit, but no later than six months after the card has been personalised, meaning linked to a specific person and their personal ID code.
If you haven’t visited a museum within six months, the 12-month validity period starts automatically.

- Keep it in your Wallet or app
To keep your Museum Card handy, we recommend adding it to your Apple Wallet (Android support coming soon). You’ll find the link for adding it to your Wallet in your purchase confirmation email.
You can also use Piletikeskus’ Sviby app, where your Museum Card is always easy to find.
- Unlimited Visits
You can visit museums as often as you like. Visit several museums in one day or return to your favourite museum every day.
The Museum Card gives you access to exhibitions, but it does not cover special events unless otherwise stated in the event information.
- Your card can be restored
If you lose your Museum Card, email us at info@muuseumikaart.ee from the same email address you used to register your card, and we’ll resend your confirmation email with the QR code.
You can also always enter a museum by showing your ID.
Extend Your Museum Card
- Extending your Museum Card costs less than buying a new one.
- Your existing QR code remains valid after the extension.
- If your Museum Card is still valid, another 12 months will be added to its current validity period.
- If your Museum Card has expired, the new 12-month period starts from the date of extension.
You can also extend your Museum Card using a Museum Card gift card.

You don’t need to know the recipient’s personal ID code when buying a gift card. The recipient enters their own personal details when they activate their Museum Card.

Activate a Gift Card
A Museum Card received as a gift can be registered in the recipient’s name until the expiry date shown on the card. After that date, the code will no longer be valid.
Before visiting a museum, the gift card must be personalised online, meaning linked to a specific person and their personal ID code.
To personalise your gift card:
- add a Museum Card to your shopping cart
- enter your contact details
- enter the unique code from the gift card in the gift code field
- agree to the terms and select “Confirm”

If you have an personal identification number and have entered it correctly when buying a Museum Card, museum can also verify your Museum Card’s validity based on your ID.

If you would like to buy in on-spot, please go to Seaplane Harbour (in Tallinn), Estonian National Museum (in Tartu) or Museum of New Art (in Pärnu).
Go to the page “Buy a Museum Card” and select “Buy a Museum Card as a gift”. You will receive a digital gift card with a code that the recipient of the gift should use to activate their Museum Card.

The Museum Card costs the same for everyone. Many museums have free entry for children under 8 years old.

No, it does not. The digital gift card has a one-year validity period, during which the recipient must personalize the gift code, i.e., register it in their name. The registered museum card becomes valid from the first museum visit, or, if no visit is made, it activates automatically after six months.
At the moment, there is no family card. The Museum Card is personal, which means each person needs their own card.
Many families choose to buy the card for all family members, while others purchase it only for adults. This is because in many museums children already have discounted tickets or free entry, although this depends on the specific museum.
This means families can decide whether it makes more sense to buy the Museum Card for everyone or just for the adults.
