TYPA Printing and Paper Arts Centre

Discover the secrets of papermaking!

TYPA is a printing and paper arts center that was founded in 2010 as a private museum to save the last remaining letterpress machines from destruction.

Located in an old shoe factory building in Tartu, TYPA introduces visitors to the secrets of papermaking, the history of printing art and letterpress printing technology, as well as exciting machines related to papermaking or book production in one way or another. TYPA exhibits several interesting objects, from Chinese paper and woodcuts to the technologies used at the end of the 20th century. The century-old machines are still in working order and print both special orders and creative works by print artists.

Under the brand TYPA Stationery, distinctive recycled notebooks, albums, and bookcases are produced and made available in the museum shop.
