Museum Card to Open a Flagship Store on Telliskivi Creative Street in Tallinn

Three years ago, the journey of the Museum Card began as a single idea, brought to life through the dedication of a small group of enthusiasts. On April 10, we celebrate the Museum Card’s anniversary — and just one day later, on April 11, we will open our very first flagship store at Telliskivi 60a/1 in Tallinn.

The new store is not just a retail space, but a step closer to making the Museum Card and museums themselves a visible and accessible part of everyday life.

From Idea to Reality in Two Months

The idea for the store was born in December, when the new CEO, Brit Tammeorg, stepped into her role. The premises were secured at the end of February, leaving exactly two months to turn the concept into reality.

“Museums belong to the people, and the Museum Card should be just as visible among them. I want people to be able to visit our office-store, learn about new exhibitions, and purchase a Museum Card for themselves or as a gift. Since museum shops across Estonia offer truly unique treasures, we wanted to create a space where these gems can also be discovered and taken home,” explains Brit.

This is the first official physical location for the Museum Card — a place where the card can be purchased, renewed, or gifted. Until now, such a space did not exist.

More Than Just a Store

The Museum Card store is designed to bring museums closer to people. Its concept reflects the remarkable diversity of Estonia’s museum landscape — from wheels, professions, and electricity to health, computers, and the individuals who have shaped Estonian society. Often, people don’t realize just how diverse our museums truly are.

What makes the space unique is its layout: at the center of the store is a large table where the Museum Card’s two-person team works daily. This makes the space more than just a shop — it is an open meeting place where visitors can ask for recommendations and discover new museum experiences.

A New Exhibit Every Month

Each month, the store will feature a museum object that tells the story of its home museum and invites visitors to explore further. This ensures that every visit offers something new and unexpected.

As a hint, we can reveal that the first object — on display from April 11 to May 11 — weighs approximately 300 kilograms and comes from Rakvere.
