Almost 200 years old carpet
The highlight of the Heimtali Museum is a carpet woven in 1850, which Johannes Nyman, the director of the Estonian Red Cross, gifted to his bride, Meta, in 1920.
More than half a century later, it was presented to the Estonian Ethnographic Society’s interest group, Triinu, who gifted it to the textile artist and founder of the Heimtali Museum, Anu Raud.
The carpet is woven with yarns dyed using natural plant-based dyes.
